Dazzling Dogwoods
by Andi Perejda
Supply List
Basic hand sewing supplies:
- Applique needles, small scissors, any thread you like that matches fabric
- White chalk pencil and silver pencil
- Small pins
- One-half to one yard of white PFD cotton sateen or white cotton PFD fabric to make dogwood flower petals. If no PFD fabric is available,
wash and iron white fabric.
- Small scraps of dark magenta fabric for dogwood flowers.
- Flower-center fabric—a gold perhaps, small pieces are fine.
- Small amounts of green, gold and/or brown seed beads.
- Gray silamide beading thread (very small amount).
- One-half yard pieces of brown and/or gray fabrics for branches. A variety of green fabrics as you like for leaves. We will cut branch strips
from the bias. Hand-dyes are always interesting.
- One yard of background fabric that will allow white flowers to show against it. You may piece your background before class if you like. Background fabric should measure 30" x 30".
- One 13 gallon garbage sack, an old white towel or some terry cloth rags and a fat quarter of inexpensive muslin.
- Masking tape.
- If you think you will really get into this, you may bring your own paints, but for class you are welcome to try mine and then decide! I use
Golden Fluid Acrylic in 1.8 oz. Bottles: Pyrrole Red and Permanent light Green.
- Small paint brush.
- A used, clean yogurt container or similar sized container for water.
- If you have Prismacolor pencils, bring them. Do not buy them just for this class!
- Black micron pen (0.01 - 0.05).
- Additional dogwood patterns will be available in class for a small fee.
